Links next adventure on Wii will be given a high level of polish, says the American head of Nintendo, casting doubt over the 2010 release date

Reggie Fils-Aime appeared on the Nintendo Weekly show saying that at this time, ensuring a high level of quality was a priority over getting the game an early release – “Right now, its still in development. But the key message that Mr. Miyamoto and Mr. Aonuma is telling us is that it really has to be perfect when it launches.” Reggie backed up his assertion by recognizing that most Zelda fans have high expectations from the game and that Nintendo aims to meet them.

Reggie’s statements may conflict with previous mumblings from his Japanese colleagues, who have recently been touting a 2010 release date for the as-yet unnamed Zelda game. As yet, nothing is official, but with other Nintendo heavy-hitters Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M both slated for this year, we won’t be surprised if Zelda is pushed back to 2011.
