You may have thought that Wii Sports Resorts wild success last year (and into the present) would have resulted in a multitude of announcements for new titles supporting the Wii MotionPlus, but this hasnt really been the case yet. We currently only know of three new MotionPlus-exclusive titles, those being Red Steel 2 (coming out this Thursday), Fling Smash (the second first party title to support the addon) and the Zelda title currently in development. However, Reggie Fils-Aime from Nintendo believes theyre still supporting the device very well.
"Theres tremendous support for Wii MotionPlus," he says. "First, what it would highlight is that Wii Sports Resort continues to sell exceptionally well. In addition to that youre seeing some fantastic third party support. Red Steel 2…about to come out. And from a first party perspective we showed Fling Smash. There are more titles that are coming, it continues to be a core part of what we do."
Another thing the Nintendo of America President pointed out was that they dont interfere with their developers control decisions. "But I guess whats unique with Nintendo is we dont force our developers to stick to a particular type of control scheme, and youve seen that. Everything from the new Metroid title to be single remote driven to Fling Smash utilizing the Wii MotionPlus. So its all about whats right for the game."
Hopefully during E3 in June time well see some more games taking the leap to the MotionPlus.
