Reggie knows there’s an “appetite” for Virtual Console on Switch
When Nintendo revealed its online plans and the ‘Classic Games’ Collection’ in it, earlier this month we knew Virtual Console wouldn’t be talked about at E3 by Nintendo. At least nothing would have been revealed.
However, IGN has an interview with Nintendo of America’s big man Reggie Fils-Aime and asked him about it anyway.
It looks like Nintendo really want to get Virtual Console right before they announce it. The ‘Classic Games’ Collection’ offering with the online service isn’t a replacement for Virtual Console, so where is it?
We know that our fans, our players, want access to all of our digital content, we know that. What we’re working through is, ‘okay, what’s going to be the best way to make that happen, to make that available?’ Certainly, we recognize there’s an appetite for all of our great legacy content.
Whatever it ends up being, we’re hoping it doesn’t take forever and there’s no three-year drip feed of games again. People just want to play everything on their Switch and now!
Hmm, it doesn’t sound too promising when he specifically says ‘our content’. I like that the Wii had more systems than the 3DS and Wii U. If we did have a repeat of anyone console, I’d rather it be the original Wii.
Nintendo really needs to get this out and sorted before Mario Odyssey. It will fill in the void left by a lack of third party stuff happening the back end of 2017.
