Red Fly to develop Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II on Wii
Darth Vaders secret apprentice returns with more lightsaber-swinging, force power-enhanced action on Wii
Starkiller returns, and this time it’s a sappy love story as he seeks to reunite with his vomit-inducingly bland love interest Juno Eclipse. The story follows all-time bad guy Darth Vader’s efforts to clone his former apprentice in an attempt to produce a formidable new Sith assassin. There’s a bunch of all-new force powers to play around with as Starkiller blasts a path across the galaxy, exploiting the powers of the dark side and the Havok™ physics engine.
Players will now be able to use the Mind Trick power to turn enemies against each other, as well as use the new ‘Force Fury’ power that enhances conventional attacks. The Euphoria motion engine that powered the animations of Starkiller’s victims will again be used to model the life-like reactions to different force powered attacks. You’ll be able to dual-wield lightsabers this time around and there’s four-way multiplayer to boot.
We’re disappointed that the Aussie team at Krome won’t be returning to work on the series after their work on the first Force Unleashed game on Wii, but are confident that Red Fly will have the chops to deliver a great new entry in the series. The studio were behind the solid but little-known Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars as well as the Wii version of the Ghostbusters game.
The game carries an October release date overseas, and we’re expecting it to launch in Australia well in time for the Christmas shopping season.
