Wii U

Project Giant Robot is dead

Last seen at E3 2014.

Project Giant Robot, one of the ‘TBC’ games on Nintendo’s release list for many years has finally been scrapped.

The game which never got a name was only ever shown playable at E3 2014, never to be seen again. The game made use of the Wii U GamePad to control, you guessed it, a giant robot with the aim of smashing down buildings and other robots as well.

The game finally disappeared off Nintendo’s release list this week after sitting quietly at the bottom of the list since then. Polygon has asked Nintendo why it was removed and they explained “we made this decision after considering our overall product and development strategy.”

Nintendo recently confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be the last game Nintendo made for the Wii U, so this news isn’t really surprising at all. Perhaps the project will be picked up down the track or its ideas repurposed into another game.
