In some very exciting news for the West, Nintendo confirmed in a Nintendo Direct today that not only will the final Professor Layton game, The Azran Legacies, be releasing on 3DS in Europe November 8th, but also that the long awaited crossover game, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, will be releasing in the West in early 2014.
That news is exciting enough, but it was delivered by Shibata cosplaying as Phoenix Wright in his iconic Objection pose. This is great news for fans of both franchises, who were beginning to doubt that the game would be localised. This means that fans can enjoy both Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies this year, with the crossover between the two series releasing only a year after.
Considering how far apart instalments in these series usually are outside Japan, this is some great news! No substantial amounts of gameplay were shown, but a few short clips were shown alongside some snippets of cutscenes in a reveal trailer, which you can see below:
Professor Layton and the Azran Legacies will launch on the 3DS on November 8th, available both at retail and on the eShop. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney launches sometime in 2014 on the 3DS.
See how much you did, or didn't play things.
