Professor Layton top selling 3DS game in Japan

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask has been the top selling title at the 3DS Japanese launch

The fifth title (fourth outside Japan) in the critically and commercially successful series of puzzle games Professor Layton, hit the 3DS at its Japanese launch and quickly became its biggest seller. Over one quarter of launch-time 3DS investors also picked up a copy of Layton’s latest adventure.

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask pushed 117,589 units during the first weekend of the system’s launch (according to publisher Enterbrain). Developer Level 5 also revealed that this achievement brings the total amount of Layton games shipped to 11 million units worldwide.

It seems that a platform swap has only increased Professor Layton’s popularity and we look forward to getting our hands on the game in the (hopefully) not so distant future.
