I’ve never played Enter the Gungeon before, it has been accumulating the digital dust in my hoard of steam games I’ll totally play one day, so when we were invited by Developer Digital to play it on Switch, I was all for it.
First thing I’ll state is the footage below is not final code. There’s no release date other than the target of “November/December” this year so things will hopefully sharpen up before it hits the eShop.
Enter the Gungeon is a roguelike action game in similar veins to the Binding Of Isaac which I’m all too familiar with. The controls require both analog sticks and full controllers to play, so while there is co-op as shown below (Thanks Lucy for playing!) You won’t be able to use a single Joy-Con.
While the games great and lived up to all expectations I had of it (also known as being hard as all hell) the frame rate and flow of the game didn’t feel all that smooth. 30fps with some pauses and stutters occasionally while transitioning rooms and using the dodge roll. This occurred both in solo and co-op runs, but like previously mentioned – this isn’t final.
Hopefully, things get worked out and a release date is announced soon as this will be yet another indie gem to grace the Switch.
From Mario to Zelda, to Splatoon to Donkey Kong. Everything on Nintendo Music.
More games will be added on December 24th and December 30th.
