Atari has turned on the brown filters and pumped up the grit level with a post-apocalyptic version of the classic game Centipede being made for the Wii and 3DS

Centipede: Infestation is a new take on the classic game and has you battling post-apocalyptic centipedes that have overrun the nuclear irradiated wasteland.

The game is played from an isometric view in 3D and is being developed by WayForward Technologies (of Contra 4 fame). USA Today says the game’s story (yes, there is a story) follows teenage orphan Max on his quest to survive and defeat the centipedes.

The game is due out in the US in our Spring – No word yet on an Australian release. Oh, and did we mention it was post-apocalyptic?
