Pokémon X & Y pre-orders sell out in Japan

Gotta sell ‘em all!

Last week we reported pre-orders for Pokémon X & Y in Japan had exceeded 1.26 million copies. Now, according to Japanese retailers, Pokémon X & Y has officially sold out in Japan ahead of Saturday’s launch.

On a similar note, Monster Hunter 4 stock has also run dry. The sheer demand for the game has resulted in the shifting of 99.6 percent of the copies Capcom originally shipped to Japanese retailers. The hotly anticipated release has now sold more than 2.7 million copies in just three weeks since it was launched.

All of this is of course fantastic news for the 3DS. With the worldwide release of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y just around the corner, it looks as if things will only keep getting better and better for Nintendo’s handheld.

I’ve been writing about video games since 2006 and playing them since I was a kid. I started out with a copy of Mario & Yoshi on the Game Boy and before I knew it was in debt to Tom Nook. These days I spend much of my time trawling the eShop for the latest downloadable hit.
