Pokémon Uranium creators pull game down, was downloaded 1.5 million times
Fan-made Pokémon game Pokémon Uranium has been made unavailable for download by its developers after receiving takedown notices from lawyers representing Nintendo.
The PC game was downloaded over 1.5 million times since its August 6 release according to developers who worked on the game for more than nine years. According to a tweet from their official account, the decision to remove the official download links was a voluntary one.
We have NOT received a Cease & Desist or been contacted by Nintendo or the Pokemon Company. We chose to remove the links ourselves.

Fans who have already downloaded Uranium have been reassured patches and bug fixes will continue to be provided.

Following the swift removal of the Metroid II fan-project, this news is not at all surprising – expected, even. Based on the commitment to future updates, it is clear the developers are aware that fans will find a way to get their hands on the game via other means.
