Nintendo is releasing last year’s Japan-only arcade game Pokémon Tretta on the 3DS. Pokémon Tretta Lab will be co-developed by Marvelous AQL and Takara Tomy, and come bundled with a scanner add-on.
In the arcade version, players use Tretta (physical disc-like objects) to store the data of individual Pokémon and then scan them into three-on-three battles. If victorious, the player is rewarded with a brand new Tretta.
Pokémon Tretta Lab uses a similar concept minus the free disc at the end of each battle. By attaching the battery operated Tretta Scanner to the 3DS and opening a downloadable piece of software titled Pokémon Tretta Lab Main System (which is included as a code within the bundle), players are able to analyse, view and battle their Pokémon in three different modes.
The 3DS version will include two exclusive modes. Auto Battle for solo play and a one-on-one Tretta disc battle.
Of course, whether this game will ever be released outside of Japan is another thing. The arcade version never made it to the West, so chances of the 3DS counter-part being released here are unlikely. If anything does change we’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, leave a comment if you would like to see this game and the arcade version released outside of Japan.
