Pokemon Tretta arcade game revealed

Shut up and take my coins!

It looks like Japanese arcades are set to get even more awesome than they were before, a feat I truly never thought possible.

Siliconera has recently caught wind that Pokemon Tretta has finally been revealed to be an arcade system skilfully designed by Marvelous AQL to empty the pockets of Pokemon fans in an all new way.  The idea behind the game seems like the typical Pokemon premise as in the main goal is to fight and catch other Pokemon.  Some of it appears to be like spinning a roulette wheel to hopefully find Pokemon in several different areas, but the battles seem to be quite similar to console iterations of the game.  3 on 3 battles commence against wild Pokemon and then there’s the chance to catch the defeated foe, but here comes the good part, once you’ve caught a Pokemon the machine dispenses a ‘Tretta Card’ with that Pokemon’s likeness on it.  This card can then be used to battle other wild Pokemon on the arcade machines, and eventually complete your collection.

Sounds addictive doesn’t it?  The game appears to be ¥100 which is a little over $1 Australian, but it’s hard to tell exactly how much play time you get for this as of yet.  If its catch one Pokemon per pay and they have all the Pokemon on the machine, then you’re looking at over $650 to catch them all, but I’m guessing it will have more chance involved than that, and that mission to catch a rare Pokemon will no doubt become mighty pricy pretty fast.

The machine itself looks quite cool with good graphics and presentation all round and a big Pokeball button that looks just made for pushing.  Sadly though speculation is that we’re very unlikely to see these machines here in Australia, but there is hope for the West as rumours are the logo was copywrite in both Japanese and English.  The machines are set to hit Japanese arcades in July, so who knows, maybe we’ll start seeing them cropping up in Timezones in a year or so.  If we do I know I’m going to have to start working more to cover the expense, anyone want to trade Tretta cards?

You can find many more images and the original story over at Siliconera. What do you think about Pokemon Tretta? Do you think it’ll come to Australia?
