Pokémon Sword and Shield sell 6 million copies in just three days, now the fastest-selling Switch game
The Pokémon Company has announced that Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield has sold 6 million units globally in its three days on sale. This now means it’s the fastest-selling Switch game, previously the record had been held by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which sold through 5 million copies. All of these figures are sold to the consumer, not shipped.
In comparing it to other Pokémon launches, it’s double that of Pokémon Let’s Go which released last year which was just 3 million. In regards to the last big mainline release, it’s hard to draw an exact comparison for first-week sales because the launch of Sun and Moon in Europe was later than the rest of the world.
Pokémon Sword and Shield have now been out a week, let’s see how far it go before the end of the year!
