While you sit there patiently waiting for Pokémon Sun and Moon to release some people already have their hands on the game through less than legal methods. Those people however are waking up this morning to find that Nintendo’s not too happy with them and have banned their systems from using any online services.
Nintendo hasn’t just swung the ban hammer at them for Pokemon, but their entire system including the eShop can no longer access Nintendo’s servers. This mean they’re effectively cut off from software they own on the shop as they won’t be able to redownload anything previously purchased.
Nintendo has issued the following statement to Kotaku on the matter;
As a result of a number of Nintendo 3DS users using unauthorized versions of several games, and connecting to the official game servers in violation of our terms of service, these users’ Nintendo 3DS systems that stored the unauthorized game code have been banned from Nintendo’s online network effective immediately.
We’re not going to link to the reaction from some players however, some of the language as you can imagine isn’t pretty.
While many players might have been trying out the game to see if they liked it, they won’t be buying it from the eShop now. If they were going to at all.
