The announcement that Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow would be coming to the Virtual Console shocked us all, it’s certainly something to look forward to next year.

Nintendo is taking the hype to the next level for the Japanese however with the games download codes getting special edition boxes at retail. Yes while in Australia we by our credit on dust covered cards that have been sitting in EB for three years the Japanese get the buy this one in style.

The ‘Download Code Special Editions’ include a download code for the game, stickers, a Game Boy cartridge shaped magnet, a map of Kanto and all come within a box that emulates the original packaging for Japan. It would be amazing if we could get something like this here in Australia to put on our shelves alongside our original boxes.

You’ve kept them for the last 20 years right?
