Announced last week, the latest update for Pokémon Go is now live on the App Store and on Google Play. That means version 0.37.0 for Android and 1.7.0 for iOS should be rolling arriving on your phone shortly.

The buddy Pokémon system allows you to chose one your Pokémon to be your buddy. It will appear on the main screen alongside your avatar and you’ll be able to earn candy for that Pokémon by walking. How much candy you’ll get and how far you have to walk to get it remains to be seen.

Alongside the buddy system is the following changes as well;

  • Made it easier to select smaller Pokémon on the screen.
  • Fixed an issue where Eggs would sometimes hatch without displaying the animation.
  • Improved performance reliability when a device switches networks to no longer cause the application to hang or stop updating.
  • Pokémon GO Plus support
  • Minor text fixes.

Niantic also notes that it is still shutting down bots and scrapers and that you should always download the official version of the game.

So, who’s your buddy?
