Niantic has made a bunch of different announcements today, not all of them are Pokémon Go related but several are or do include the Niantic Real World Platform that underpins the game.

The biggest announcement was a new mode in Pokémon Go called Buddy Adventure. This new shared AR experience will allow Pokémon set as buddies to mingle in the same AR “session” together. At the moment using AR is a solidarity thing, this new mode sees all your friends Pokémon in the same real-world location. When Buddy Adventure launches still doesn’t have a date, but it’ll be a great way to get you and your friends Pokémon all in a photo together.

Other announcements include the launch of the Niantic Wayfarer program. It’ll allow anyone to submit locations that could be added to the game as PokeStops and Gyms. At the moment the program is currently under testing but it’ll finally be opened up to everyone.

Small businesses will soon be able to pay and have a PokeStop or Gym added at their business for a fee as well. Pokémon Go has had limited promotional stops before, but it’s also been only for some companies.
