The Pokemon DS games already have voice chat but the new games are taking it one step further with the addition of Video Chat via a feature called Live Caster. You won’t be able to chat mid-battle but you will be able to chat with up to 4 people over local wireless connection (DS to DS) or over Wi-Fi connection with just your friend and yourself.
Nintendo is also including a ‘tag mode’ in the game which like the Nintendogs feature will let other players find each other when they walk past each other. Of course you’ll have to have the game on and in the mode to do it, but you knew that already.
The pamphlet also reveals some more information on the triple battles, a high link feature to help your friends out on missions. No more concrete details at this stage to what this actually entails.
