Pokemon Black and White sells a lot in Australia too

Its a new record: Best week one sales for a Nintendo game in Australia

We all know Pokemon sells well, but now we know how well it sells in Australia. Nintendo Australia has announced that it has sold more than 77,000 copies of the game (combined) in its first week on sale. Now 77,000 isnt a lot compared to the million or more that went in America but for the size of our market its a huge huge amount.

To compare Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version sold only 45,000 in week one sales when it launched last year. New Super Mario Bros Wii also sold about the same (47,400) in its first week on sale in 2009 as well. That means that Pokemon Black and White are the biggest selling week one release of any Nintendo game, across any Nintendo console in the history of Nintendo in Australia. Hoohoo!

There is now a grand total of 3 million Pokemon games that have been sold in Australia since Pokemon Blue and Red. Ne
