There were rumours it was coming and there was also quite the hope from many fans of the series, but after almost 10 years of waiting, Plants vs Zombies is coming back to a Nintendo platform.

Revealed during the Nintendo Direct, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville Complete Edition will hit Nintendo Switch on March 19, which is only a few weeks away and as the name suggests offer all the content to Switch players.

What that means is that players will have access to 23 fully customisable characters and all the cosmetic items ever released for the game, all available as in-game unlocks, without any need for purchasing them.

In terms of playing there will be offline modes, modes with 3 friends locally or online for some 8v8 multiplayer.

“We are excited to bring everyone’s favorite Plants vs. Zombies™ characters to Nintendo Switch for the first time, giving players the ability to play in their homes or on the go, however they choose,” said Melvin Teo, Producer at PopCap Vancouver. “The Switch’s motion controls allow us to try a fresh new take on Neighborville, and with its docked and portable play, we have the ability to bring the game and its characters to life in ways that weren’t possible before.”

A little cool piece of trivia, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville Complete Edition is the first game developed on the Frostbite engine to be released on the platform, which opens the door to more titles coming to Switch.
