Peter Moore says MotionPlus has ruined traditional gamepad tennis controls

The head of EA Sports has pushed back the releases of the the HD console versions of Grand Slam Tennis so that they too can get the motion control treatment

The first game to bundle the MotionPlus in Australia, EA’s Grand Slam Tennis, made quite a stir on its release. For the first time on the Wii you could effortlessly add topspin or slice your shots, with positioning also being much more than just about timing. EA’s head of their sports division, Peter Moore, has certainly taken this to heart, and has delayed the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 releases of the game to make use of their upcoming motion control systems.

Mr. Moore has said that is has became "glaringly obvious" after using the MotionPlus controls from Grand Slam Tennis that they have "absolutely ruined" the experience of using a traditional controller. Because of this, along with EA’s extra effort needed for their ’Active’ franchise, he also said that for the HD releases of the game, "…we’ve decided just to wait for Natal and for the Sony motion controller to come out."

Both of EA’s recent MotionPlus games, Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, have definitely revolutionised controls in sports games, and it is a very exciting time now as we wait for even more games to make use of the new accessory.
