Penny Arcade Expo expands internationally to Australia
Penny Arcade creators Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik (aka Tycho and Gabe) have told a crowd at PAX Prime which is taking place in Seattle this weekend that the expo will be expanding internationally to Australia, possibly next year.
This would be the first move outside of the US, there are currently events in Boston (East) and the main event in Seattle (Prime). The team also they are looking into a UK offering as well.
There’s no concrete news on this event yet, when or where are still unknown. We imagine EB Games can’t be too chuffed at this announcement though.
PAX is a more fan orientated expo than most and is usually the best way to play some unreleased games, PAX Prime which is on now has the Wii U playable for example.
Penny Arcade people, we’re rich here in WA and you should come here. As that’s never going to happen, Where would you like to see the event take place?
Melbourne! We have yet to host a major games expo.
YES! COME TO MELBOURNE!!!
WTF? MEL has one on right at the moment!!! http://gamemasters.acmi.net.au/
That’s not a games expo, more like… An exhibit.
Yes PERTH
MELBOOOOUUURRRRNNNEEE!!!!!
I wonder if they’ll follow Gen Con and set themselves up in Brisbane.
it is 99.9% impossible but i would want PAX to come to newcastle NSW because i dont live near any major cities and everyone knows how much petrol is in this economy.
I won’t expect this to be half as good as the US ones, but eh, we don’t have many games expos/cons here, and this one looks more appealing than any of those more commercial cons I’ve seen.
PERTH. It is home to one of the few, if not only Australians to attend the very first ever PAX. I should know. It was me.
Find a more dedicated Penny-Arcade fan than that!
Melbourne had Game in 06 and egames expo in 2007, 2008 and 2010. Having covered them for various out lets, they put me off expos as a whole. :s
That said Melbourne would be cool, but being
Americans that are setting it up it will most likely be the stereo typical location of Sydney.
Meh still all good.
Jab, I think that Melbourne is more likely. Mike and Jerry do their research, and will probably realize that the relative centrality makes Melbourne a good choice. Also, people they know such as Scott Kurtz and I believe Wil Wheaton have been to Melbourne, and will definitely vouch for it as a good choice.
Yeah Melbourne is probably the most likely – relatively central, and it’d give Melbourne a boost as it doesn’t really have any video game conventions as is.
Whatever happened to Go3 here in Perth?
