Flight games are pretty rare on the Wii, let alone good ones, so it seems Pearl Harbor Trilogy will be giving dogfight fans a good dose of entertainment soon. Cited as a re-interpretation of Attack on Pearl Harbor, a popular game from Legendo Entertainment, the first episode of the trilogy will be named Red Sun Rising.
Executive Producer of the games, Bjorn Larsson, said, "The Wii Remote controller is a perfect match for aerial combat – we are currently trying a variety of control-schemes to see what works best, we want to bring players as close as possible to flying in their living rooms."
Red Sun Rising will feature various USAAF World War II fighter aircraft, including the P-40 Warhawk, and F4U Corsair up against the Japanese A6M2 Zero fighters and Aichi D3A Val dive-bombers. Important battles from the Pacific Theater will be included in the game, like Pearl Harbor, Wake Island, and the Battle of Midway.
"We have tamed the innards of the Wii to make its GPU glow red-hot," said Stanislav Petri from Arcade Moon," as we’re shooting for 60 FPS aerial dogfight action using all the tricks in the book."
The first episode of Pearl Harbor Trilogy will be arriving on WiiWare this summer.
