Namco Bandai has today announced two new games for the Nintendo 3DS, but the catch is, they’re on the same card. Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions will offer new and remixed versions of the classic games with all new controls.
Pac-Man Tilt will (you guessed it) use tilt controls to control Pac-Man around on a side-scrolling, action-slashing, platforming game. In this game, you play as a fully legged Pac-Man and you must jump and tilt your way to victory. You can also roll Pac-Man up into a ball to fit through tight spaces. You’ll need to tilt the console, but there should be traditional controls built into the game to we’d imagine.
Galaga Dimensions also uses the gyro controls of the Nintendo 3DS, but in a subtly different way. This version of Galaga has you in first-person view inside a ship, the action is also on-rails and you’ll just need to move the whole Nintendo 3DS around to change your view point.
The problem with Pac-Man more than Galaga is that playing the Nintendo 3DS requires a near steady hand, if you tilt or move around a lot you lose the 3D effect. Galaga should be fine, you’re moving the entire console around to see, Pac-Man tilting the console could be a bit more awkward.
There is no current release date for these games yet, but we don’t think you’ll be waiting long.
