Nintendo has finally shifted over one million 3DS systems in Japan since its launch back in February — thats 13 weeks. Andriasang compares this to the time it took the DS handhelds to top seven figures. The original DS reached a million sold in its fourth week on sale. The old workhorses, the DS Lite and DSi, both got there in eight weeks, while the DSi XL took 25 weeks.
Nintendo has said, however, that they plan to "vigorously" push the 3DS, and their E3 line-up is indicative of this; games like Mario Kart, Super Mario, Kid Icarus: Uprising, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and a Super Smash Bros. are still on the horizon.
