No F-Zero title in the works, but could happen: SEGA

E3 hopes for a 3DS version of F-Zero fade somewhat

SEGA has told Total Video Games that they are not working on a new F-Zero sequel, but they say it could happen if they get the inspiration.

SEGA made F-Zero GX for the Gamecube – the last entry in the Nintendo series – but the futuristic racer has not been seen or heard from since. SEGA’s Osamu Ohashi, chief producer for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, told TVG that SEGA was not making a new F-Zero title.

“If theres a good idea, that will work for both of us, then we might do that [make another F-Zero]. But as far as we know, we havent heard of any concrete plan or project thats going on,” Ohashi said.

So that would mean SEGA is not making another F-Zero title for Nintendo, which is a shame considering the quality of GX. However, a faint ray of hope remains in that Nintendo may have assigned the task of making a new F-Zero game to another team and kept it under wraps.

Fans have been calling for a new F-Zero title for a while now, particularly for the 3DS, so it would be quite disappointing if E3 rolls by and Nintendo still don’t announce a sequel. Just imagine blasting down a twisting track at super speeds in 3D. Make it happen Nintendo.
