The developers of Pop+ Solo, myNotebook and myPostcards have revealed their next game for DSiWare. Spirit Hunters Inc. will use the two cameras included in the Nintendo DSi for an augmented reality game.
The game uses the cameras to scout out your current location, and in that location will be hidden a ghost to be found and fought against. You’ll need to scan around with the camera until you the monster, then it’ll either pick a fight with you or you might need to give it a poke or two with the stylus.
Ghosts will come in one of six different elements: fire, water, ice, shadow, light and fungus. Each of the ghosts has strengths and weaknesses against each different type. Once defeated, you can either catch them or kill them. Doing either will net you either more XP or Cash depending on whether you catch or kill them, but either can be put towards more upgrades and weapons.
The game will come in two flavours as well – Spirit Hunters Inc.: Shadow and Spirit Hunters Inc.: Light. It will be a Pokémon-like dealy with different spirits only available on different versions.
Gamespot AU, who went hands-on with the title, says the game is far from completion but they think the idea is solid. It’s also finally good to see a developer use the camera in the DSi for something other than sticking your low-res face in a game. The games are out later this year.
