Says Pokemon Company president, who also confirmed their games will come to the system.
Pokémon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara has revealed in a new interview that Pokemon games will indeed be coming to Nintendo’s upcoming console code-named NX.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Ishihara has also revealed that the console will “change the concept” of what it means to be a home console or a handheld. Here’s the direct quote;
The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a hand-held device. We will make games for the NX.
This quote lends credence to the rumours and leaks that the NX will be some sort of hybrid console that is able to be played at home or out and about. Which begs the question, what’s going to happen the ‘main’ Pokémon games. There really hasn’t been a proper, or at least mainline Pokemon game on a home console ever, if the system is both home console and handheld – could we finally get one?
Ishihara also spoke about Pokémon Go in the interview revealing that the reaction to the game was more than they expected.
I feel like the reaction we saw was 10 times or even 100 times bigger than we expected.
He also reconfirmed the desire to put PVP Pokémon battles into the game, but not at the expense of making the game difficult for new players.
Battling is a category that we do best at Pokémon, after all… it’s important to really carefully consider any feature that may increase the difficulty and raise the barrier to entry for more casual users.

It’s not just the reaction to Pokémon Go that was bigger, but the merchandising with Ishihara says sales are ahead 30 to 50 percent more than what they expected this year.
Sounds like putting Super Mario on the phones isn’t such a bad idea after all.
It's Black, Back Again.
