Today at its investors and analyst briefing, Satoru Iwata was asked about why Nintendo were revamping its internal structure to marge consoles and portables, something it’s been doing for the past few years.
Iwata told the analyst that the technological gap between home and portable consoles had narrowed considerably in the past few years. The difference between the two is architecturally very similar now.
Iwata told the investor that he doesn’t know yet whether future hardware will be merged but in the future, the systems will be come ‘brothers’.
Nintendo has spent the last few years building a brand new research and development building in Kyoto for expressed idea of bringing both its handheld and home console development teams closer to together.
It will be a while before we see any games born out of this new brotherly love.
Makes sense to us.
It's Black, Back Again.
