Nintendo Online ‘Classic Games Selection’ is different to Virtual Console

Virtual Console release for Switch still yet to be determined.

Nintendo’s announcement of both its Online service and the Classic Games Selection offering within raised a lot more questions than answers. Nintendo clarified some of it in statements later on, but there was one question left unanswered.

What does this mean for Virtual Console?

Famitsu has asked Nintendo the question and they have an answer, sort of. Keep in mind these answers are literal translations of what was said so the answers might not be absolutely what Nintendo implied, even if its what they said.

Nintendo confirmed that Classic Game Selection and Virtual Console are two separate things. These games also add new features to the games, like online play modes, which Virtual Console does not.

Nintendo also told Famitsu that it hasn’t decided on when Virtual Console for the Switch will come.

We’re sure Nintendo probably do know, but that they’re just not going to say here. These online announcements before E3 also probably mean Nintendo won’t address any of this at the expo either, getting it out of the way to focus on the games.
