Nintendos American 3DS launch line-up reveals 18 games
Also, an oddity in the press release makes us wonder about Mario Kart
Nintendo of America has lifted the wraps of the list of games thatll be available for the 3DS on day one. 18 games will be on shelves at launch, seven more than there was for the launch of the original Nintendo DS in that region, and over two-thirds of the line-up consists of third-party offerings. The suggested retail price of games will be US$39.99. Heres the full list.

The press release also mentions first-party 3DS games that would be launched by the years end, namely The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D and Kid Icarus: Uprising, but, more interestingly, "new installments in the Mario Kart series." Installments? Is this a clue, or even confirmation, that therell be more than one Mario Kart game released for the 3DS this year?
Even if we take into account that it could be a typo, the sentence fragment "and new installment in the Mario Kart series" would still be grammatically erroneous. If the statement does hold true, it could perhaps be referring to a (possibly updated) retro Mario Kart game for the 3DS Virtual Console, rather than another retail game.
UPDATE: Nintendo of America has now altered the wording of that sentence to read "and a new installment in the Mario Kart series." Hmm.
Fear not, people. Nintendo Australia is tipped to announce our launch line-up this week.
