Instead of going to TGS, Nintendo is just renting the place out itself a week later

It’s been revealed that the Nintendo 3DS release date (and possibly more) reveal next week will take place in the same venue as last week’s Tokyo Game Show and also the previous home of Nintendo’s SpaceWorld events in years far gone by.

UPDATE – The time for the event has now been confirmed – Find out more

The press conference will take place at the Makuhari Messe, presumably the conference won’t take up the entire place but the last time Nintendo used the venue was to show off the Wii line up before its release in 2006.

The huge venue could also be needed as Nintendo is going to have to show people the 3DS to really see the 3D effect. Satoru Iwata can talk until he is blue in the face but the attendees will really want to see the 3D, much like Nintendo did for E3.

News is expected sometime during the day on September 29th, next Wednesday. Mark it in your calendar.
