Since the release of the WiiWare service to Wii owners worldwide, industry giant Nintendo have commented and confirmed that they are working on a way to expand storage for the Wii itself, although an external hardware device remains unlikely. Nintendo of Europe’s Laurent Fishcer made a few statements on what will be done – which you can read inside.
We definitely detect that they [gamers] are serious and we know there is an issue in this, so its something that were working on. Definitely theres no plan to issue hardware, an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area.

Its very obvious and were perfectly aware of it, but theres nothing we can say beyond this. This area is fully handled by the development team in Japan. Its very linked to the overall strategy; thats something theyre working on.

Fischer then went on to confirm that the approach to the issue is the ability for users to re-download any titles to their system following deletion.
