Nintendo have announced that they will be partnering up with Illumination Entertainment to create an animated Mario film.

Illumination Entertainment, a division of Universal Studios, is best known for their work on the Despicable Me franchise (yes, including Minions), as well as The Secret Life of Pets and Sing. The Mario film will be co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri.

We’ll bring more details as they come.
