Nintendo won’t be at Gamescon this year
Nintendo has announced that it will not be at the Gamescon Expo this year. Gamescon in recent years has become almost as big as E3 in both its scope and what it reveals in terms of new content. Speaking to Mediabiz, a representative from Nintendo Germany has said that “Although Gamescom is one of the most important fairs of the year for us, we’ve decided not to take part this year.”
This news is particular sad this year as it would have been one of the first times the public could have had a chance to go hands on with the Wii U, not to mention all the great games Nintendo will no doubt show for the Nintendo 3DS.
However all is not lost as Nintendo will show the system off elsewhere. “Instead we plan to broaden our post-E3 activities to introduce our retail and media partners to the Wii U and the newest titles for the Nintendo 3DS, On top of that, as part of the pan-European marketing, PR and event activities for later this year we are planning a whole array of events that will offer our fans the opportunity to try out our latest titles. We’ll have more information about that soon.”
In other words Nintendo wants to show off the Wii U on it’s on own terms and at its own events later in the year. Sad news for European Nintendo fans, but hopefully Nintendo actually delivers with other events.
