Nintendos first foray into video services has gone live in Japan, and itll be heading outside Japan as well.

Nintendo’s video service Wii-no-Ma has gone live across Japanese Nintendo Wiis today. The service, which is aiming to bring the family together around the TV and choose from a selection of unique content, is also being planned outside Japan says Nintendo president Satoru Iwata.

Speaking in a video on the service Iwata has announced that “available only in Japan at the start, but the overseas deployment is under planning in the future.” So don’t expect it anytime soon – but it is in the works.

The Wii-no-ma service is an advertising-backed video streaming service with not only original content but content from other networks. The channel is just another way Nintendo is aiming to expand the gaming population.
