Nintendo has announced that the Wii Shop Channel will close down on January 21st, 2019.
You’ll still be able to purchase games and add credit right up until Tuesday, March 27th, 2018.
The Wii Shop channel was launched alongside the Wii on November 19, 2006, so when it closes the Wii Shop Channel will be 12 years, 2 months, 12 days old.
This means access to WiiWare and Wii Virtual Console games will no longer be available after this date, you’ll want to make sure you have everything downloaded to your Wii or Wii U before this date.
RIP Wii Shop channel music.

That’s longer than you would think hey.
Does anyone know if they have added anything new in the last couple of years?
I thought it had already closed down in 2016. Now I have to reinstall the app so I can download some Virtual Console games I’ve been meaning to buy.
I think they added like one or two WiiWare games. Guess it’s time for me to download them all using NUS and find out a way to decrypt them so I can have them after it closes.
Ah the memories, those were some good times
