On the weekend a bunch of WiiWare information came out of IGNs weekly podcast and now Nintendo has decided to clarify some of the things that were discussed in the podcast. A Nintendo spokesperson commented in relation to WiiWare games being a max of 40 megabytes saying; I can confirm as we originally said at the announcement of the Wii Ware service earlier in the year that Wii Ware games will come in a range of sizes but we will encourage smaller, more compact games for the service. More inside.
The Nintendo spokesperson also confirmed that they are thinking about allowing developers to only release one game per month during the launch window to address potential volume issues. Nintendo obviously does not want to put too many titles out at once. Regarding pricing, Nintendo has not confirmed details about who is setting prices for WiiWare games, as the goal for WiiWare is to allow anyone to create fresh new content at a low price. Nintendo is keeping their WiiWare cards close to their chest this year but expect an explosion of information early next year.
