Ended up passing on those for Wind Waker obviously.
The Legend of Zelda series director Eiji Aonuma has revealed in a new interview that three previous Zelda titles were tested out to be flung into the HD world before settling on Wind Waker.
The other two titles were the The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess from the GameCube/Wii which was first released in 2006 and more the more recent Skyward Sword which was released on the Wii in 2011.
“When we were thinking about the new Zelda for Wii U, which is something we’re actually working on, we needed to experiment with a variety of graphic styles and it was part of that process we took some existing Zelda games and made them HD just to see what would happen,” Aonuma told Polygon.
“In doing so we realized that the Wind Waker graphic style, the art style, really represented well on the Wii U given the graphic capabilities of the new system. It really brought that world to life.”
So is there any chance we’ll see those other two games in HD eventually? Not anytime soon says Aonuma, he’s busy working now on the next Zelda title for the Wii U. So if it does happen it won’t be by his team.
If you didn’t want Wind Waker HD, would you have preferred Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess?
Preinstalled this time.
