Nintendo terminating several Wii Channels in June

Everybody Votes, but not for much longer.

Nintendo Japan has announced that in June it will bring several Wii channels to End of Life status.

There are seven channels that Nintendo plans to shelf, including the Weather Channel, Digicam Print Channel (Japan only), News Channel, Everyone Votes channel Everyone’s Nintendo Channel, and the Mii Contest Channel.

Nintendo will also be killing off the ability to send messages to friends via the Wii Message Board and in the games that supported it.

The channels will still remain on your Wii after this cut-off date but not be able to be used.

The Wii Shop Channel will still remain in service and the Message Board while not being able to message people will still be able to automatically receive the ‘events’ message which collects the total time you spent on games each day.

It’s sad to see these go, but with the Wii out of the picture now supporting these doesn’t make much sense anymore.

Does anyone have any happy memories of the Wii Channels? Back in the day some of them were pretty fun and interesting.
