Even bigger than the Wii.
It’s time for another dose of early Nintendo Switch sales reports, this time from America.
Instead of actual figures we’re going to have to rely of the word of none other than Reggie Fils-Aime. A new interview with The New York Times with Reggie will be published soon, but some early info about Switch and Breath of the Wild sales has emerged early.
According to Reggie the opening Friday and Saturday sales of the Switch “exceeded first 2-day sales in Americas for any system in Nintendo history.” Yes, even the Wii.
Breath of the Wild has also become the best selling standalone launch title in Nintendo History (not including Wii Sports as that was bundled). It’s even toppled Super Mario 64.
While these figures never will speak to the long term success of the system, and we’re sure the Wii was supply constrained (even if it did launch in November) it’s positive news at least.
Hopefully the full interview will reveal even more.
See how much you did, or didn't play things.
