Nintendo shuts down Metroid II fan remake

Still fails to acknowledge Metroid anniversary it self however.

Well that didn’t take long. The impressive Metroid II fan remake AM2R has been shut down, rather predictability by Nintendo.

The project has lived in development for many years but it’s release and the amount of coverage it’s received in the last few days has made the Nintendo ninjas jump.

The download for the game has been removed from the official project’s website, other external hosts have also been issued with the take down notice.

While Nintendo legally have the right to do this and we should have all expected it, it does seem a little unfair seeing just how much Nintendo actually cares about the Metroid franchise lately.

It’s had time to issue a cease and desist but not even public acknowledge the franchises anniversary anywhere. Not only that but the remake itself was actually quite impressive and fun to play.

We’re sure you can still find it if you really want it.
