Nintendo sets firm dates for Wii MotionPlus and Wii Sport Resort

Nintendo has finally settled on a concrete date for the US and UK release of Wii Motion Plus and Wii Sports Resort and theyre a month apart.
No more vagueness, Nintendo America and Europe have announced release dates not only for the Wii MotionPlus accessory, but also Wii Sports Resort which gets bundled with the MotionPlus. The Wii MotionPlus will arrive in the US on June 8th and in the UK on June 12th and will be packaged as rumours suggested, inside a Wii Remote silicon jacket. Its currently unknown if the unit can be removed from the Jacket as of yet.

Wii Sports Resort, the sequel to the best selling game ever, will launch roughly a month later in both the US and UK on the 26th and 24th respectively. We expect (perhaps in vain) that the Australian dates should be similar. Pricing for two products are set at $19.99US (no pricing yet for UK) for a standalone Wii MotionPlus unit and $49.99US for Wii Sports Resort bundled with the MotionPlus unit.

So why the month delay between? Well despite Nintendo releasing their only Wii MotionPlus enabled game later, Sega have their Virtua Tennis 2009 title and EA have their Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 titles releasing in May and June.

Well follow up Nintendo Australia in the morning for our pricing and dates, but we will bet it costs $29.99AU for a MotionPlus unit here, bringing the total Wii Remote price to well over $100AU. Ouch.
