Reports suggest Nintendo is slowing down production of Wii consoles due to less demand

2.4 million, thats how many Wii units Nintendo were making a month. But now it has been reported that Nintendo is slowing down the manufacturing of the console as demand subdues from the crazy levels seen in 2008. Why make more consoles than youre selling?

The information comes from two Japanese companies, Mitsumi and Hosiden, who manufacture the consoles. Theyre saying that they are facing huge revenue losses due to the decline in Wii sales. This drop in revenue is over 50%.

Wii shortages in 2006 and 2007 caused Nintendo to double its production capacity to keep up with demand, so its no surprise that Wii sales have slowed down a little and that production would indeed decrease along with it. Or we could just make a joke about how Nintendo is slowing down Wii production due to the Wii HD coming next year, but we wouldnt do that, would we?
