Nintendo reveals Starfox Zero for Wii U, co-developed with PlatinumGames

Nintendo wasted no time in introducing the new gameplay footage for their brand new Starfox game, called Starfox Zero. The name was chosen because the development team feel it’s not a sequel like four or five but that it’s not a remake either. More weirdly, the developers liked the way the Kanji character for Zero looked like a fox’s tail and decided to pick it for that reason too.

The footage reveals a return to form for the franchise – featuring the same classic aerial combat that fans enjoyed in Lylat Wars (or Star Fox 64) and the original Star Fox game.

Besides the classic Arwing, players will be able to switch it to a walker mode too for more hectic on-foot battles. Other vehicles, such as the Landmaster, will be playable too.

The game features full voice acting too, although not many more details were revealed about the game or its storyline.

Starfox Zero is due for release at the end of this year exclusively on Wii U. When we have more information we’ll be sure to let you know.
