Not a photoshop, really.
Nintendo has today revealed the Nintendo 2DS, a entry level handheld system that’s essentially a Nintendo 3DS but has no 3D and no clam-shell design.
Meant as a cheap system for young gamers, the Nintendo 2DS will be released in North America in October, the same day as Pokemon X and Y. The system will be priced at $129.99 and will be available in two colours, red or blue. This price point makes the system $40 cheaper than the original Nintendo 3DS and $70 than the 3DS XL. All of those prices are for the North American market.
It will be the first handheld Nintendo has released since the Gameboy Micro that hasn’t been a clamshell, Nintendo is calling it a ‘slate’ style console. The system features all of the same specifications as the normal Nintendo 3DS apart from the 3D screens, it will still feature the 3DS cameras however.
This console is clearly designed as a cheaper 3DS unit for children, Reggie Fils-Aime has said in an interview with Kotaku.
We will have more tomorrow on the console, and will ask Nintendo Australia if it’s coming to Australia as soon as we can.
From Mario to Zelda, to Splatoon to Donkey Kong. Everything on Nintendo Music.
More games will be added on December 24th and December 30th.
