Nintendo has just announced the latest Platinum Club Nintendo awards for Japan and by doing so announced the first Nintendo DS game that will be available digitally only on the 3DS eShop.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin was never released in Japan but provided you have enough Club Nintendo points you’ll be able to download the game starting today. You’ll have of course need to have hit Platinum Status on the Japanese Club Nintendo.

That’s unless you wait when the game will be made available on the standard Club Nintendo rewards program in May next year. You’ll need only 800 points to download. The game is a light 426 blocks.

There’s also this calendar. Which is kind of cool.

While this is an extremely limited offering it does show that Nintendo can at least get Nintendo DS games to run digitally on the 3DS hardware. Perhaps more DS games will be on the way to the 3DS eShop?

For now though those lucky Japanese folk get the goods again.
