Nintendo pushing online features in UK with new ad campaign
A new marketing campaign is going live in the UK with focus being on the DSi and Wiis online abilities
Starting from today in the UK Nintendo is spending the big bucks in an attempt to get more people to use the online features of their Wii and Nintendo DSi. It’s not just a huge TV and online campaign though as Nintendo will educate and involve retailers and letting them know what the two consoles can do.
On the Wii side of the things the BBC iPlayer, DLC for Band Hero and WiiWare games will be the focus whereas on the DSi side of things, the downloadable version of Brain Training is getting a push, the 6 in 1 dictionary and the Facebook integration.
Ever though this is an attempt to get more people to buy things online Nintendo says it’s not a threat to retail sales.
Nintendo Australia has recently run ads with Delta Goodrem promoting the Facebook upload feature of the DSi, it’s likely they’ll follow in Nintendo Europe’s steps with more ads in a similar vein.
And anything that helps get DSiWare and WiiWare games get more exposure is a good idea, Gamerbytes recently wrote an an excellent article on what more could be done.
