A short while ago we reported that after the phenomenal success of the Wii and DS, Nintendo was beating back the margin between itself and rival Sony Corp in terms of market capitalisation. A 1.8 percent increase in Nintendo stocks coupled with a decrease of 0.8 percent for those of Sony, has propelled the Kyoto based company into the top spot with the company valued at 6.55 trillion yen compared to the 6.51 trillion yen of Sony Corp.

More Inside It’s great to see that Nintendo are effectively back on top again as the Wii continually outsells the Playstation 3 and the DS remains strong against all odds. Expect that Nintendo will retain this position for some time to come. For the more fanboy inclined amongst us, let me just say that it’s nice to know that Nintendo, which is only a gaming company, is worth more than the entire cumulative efforts of all the divisions at Sony.
